Join the marines, shoot hoops, rap, travel to exotic lands, die

Recognise this man? He's Raymond Plouhour, whose attempts to recruit young people from the poorest suburbs of the depressed working class city of Flint into the US marine corps were featured in Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11. Plouhour, who promised his mostly black targets that a career in the Marines would involve lots of basketball and rapping, has just been killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq. Rather him than one of his recruits, let alone an Iraqi.

I'm sure he was killed on his way to a concert, or a pick-up game.
