Like a regular rugger player
I'm grateful to Rhys Brookbank for this generous interview-profile (click to enlarge and read it), which appears in the latest issue of the Dunedin student magazine Critic. Nice photo, too - my face never looked so good...You can read other responses to my book here, here and here.
There'll also be a review in the next issue of Landfall, which is due out in a month or so.

This is good review but they are a bit unfair on Smithyman - "lost in long words and abstract ideas"? Nonsense!
It is a different kind of writing by Smithyman that is all.
But this is otherwise a very good review.
